A week of culinary for the culture

Enjoy an evening of tasting stations, bartender competition, and live cooking demonstrations by featured chefs. If you are a chef or in the food industry you too can participate, but act quickly deadlines are approaching.

What is Black Restaurant Week?
Black Restaurant Week, LLC is committed to the education and awareness of the Black Culinary Industry in the US. To achieve its mission of growth in the culinary industry, BRW aims to create experiences that will cater to a diverse culture of tastemakers, professionals and area foodies looking for exposure to delicious food and exquisite wines. In addition to Atlanta, BRW is currently held in Houston, LA, Philadelphia and New Orleans.

On September 4-16, 2018Black Restaurant Week, LLC (BRW) will host its second annual 2-week showcase using a combination of awareness and education events to stimulate the growth of African American owned culinary businesses and farms in Atlanta, GA. Registration is now open to restaurants, food truck owners, bartenders, chefs and caterers representing diverse selection of African, Caribbean, Creole, Cajun, Vegetarian, Seafood, Southern, and BBQ cuisine. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Family Agriculture Resource Management Service (F.A.R.M.S.) food bank program which purchases produce from small farmers to be donated to a food bank and local food shelters. 

Below are a series of events BRW will curate:

Restaurant Week Showcase
For the entire two weeks, diners will enjoy pre-fixe fine dining menus for just $35 – $45 per person or casual dining menus for $15 – $25 per person from participating restaurants.

Growing the Culinary Industry | Aroma: Culinary Panel Discussion   
This event will highlight women who have successfully navigated the field in a variety of ways including catering, restaurant ownership, or food truck ownership. Experts will offer advice on ways to get started in the industry, raising capital, and managing a successful business operation.

The Creative Culinary Talents of Chef Jarvis Belton | The Art of Flavor: Pop Up Dinner  
Chef Jarvis Belton is the highlighted chef of our exclusive Art of Flavor pop up dinner. As the chef for Google, he had the opportunity to produce food for many interesting clients and utilize his creativity in many different ways. The Art of Flavor dinner includes 4 courses and wine pairings. 

The Diverse Culinary Talent of Africans and African Americans Nosh: Culinary Showcase 
Our Nosh Culinary Showcase honor’s the talented executive chefs and caterers of Atlanta by showing the diverse cultures and culinary talent that Atlanta has to offer.

The Craft of Cocktails | Power of the Palate: Bartender Competition 
Bartenders and other mixologists create some eclectic cocktails that highlight the bold flavors from the African diaspora in our Power of the Palate bartending competition 

Food Truck Industry Growth SoundBites: Food Truck Festival 
Come experience the Fun, Food Trucks and Live Music by some of Atlanta’s hottest DJs. A variety of food trucks will be present serving everything from Juicy Wings to Sweets.
